Hey guys, I'm thinking about either replacing the neck on my jaguar with a thinner neck (I'f I'd do that, it would automatically also need binding, and possibly even block inlays), or having it shaved, so It'd be thinner.
I was wondering what having it shaved down would mean? The back would be sanded to remove the finish and then some of the wood would be removed... But would that also mean I'd have to have the entire neck sanded down and refinished after that? Could I just leave it unfinished, or only have the back part finished without doing the entire thing again?
And, where the hell would I get a bound (and maybe even with blocks) 24" scale neck? I've checked a lot of custom guitar building sites like warmoth and such, none of them give the extra's like binding and blocks on non regular scale necks... Getting a vintage one is an option I guess, but that doesn't guarantee a thin neck, right? What are vintage necks like, anyway? Plus, they're pretty expensive, there's one on e-bay for 500 dollars right now....
