Can somebody explain the point of this pedal?

Is there any practical use for this? like from a musical standpoint? I've just never understood the usefulness of pedals that JUST make noise. Is there a point? Or are they just fun, obnoxious toys to play around with? seriously, why?

Its not a pedal. Just a VERY small guitar thats designed for feedbacking only. #### playing. Who needs frets??

Its one of them things you get someone like Johnny Greenwood or Thurston Moore using for two bars in the middle of a song.

Musically its not much use, you may as well Circuit Bend a cheap distortion pedal.

However, there is a whole culture of Noise musicians that love this kind of stuff, its a lot more popular now than it ever was.

could it just be a pickup in a box? wire it to the output and face the pole pieces toward that spring. i dont know if that would achieve those sounds though, hmmm

Looks to me like it would work like a reverb tank, but I'm not sure...

I thought it was kinda cool anyway. If you're a purist about your instrument, I can see how the point might escape you though.

i like it, i'd like to have it on a guitar. i guess it's kind of a cop out though, since it can be done with an actual guitar w/the rights effects/technique (ie dirtboxes running into each other at high volumes)

I dunno the guy's site is pretty much all in Japanese, with little snippets of English here and there. Also, I didn't see an order form or any mention of price anywhere. He does appear to speak English though, so if you can hunt down an email address on his site you could prolly get the info from him. just google masf pedals and click on the top result.
