way too trebley; you need to roll down the tone on the guitar and amp to get any kind of harmonic balance. mine doesn't have an echo, but i have one of their echo pedals which is pretty cool. you can overload it really easily, which sounds amazing on repeats.

I tried a Vox Pathfinder 15r today.

It's now on lay-by and I will have it by mid-February. 😁

Great little thing, and I think it will only get better once I get my own personal setting figured out. Matching it to the setting on my current amp didn't result in a sound I was very fond of. Good bass response on the Vox, it was bassier than I am used to.

do they have a speaker out put for extension cabs? because if you had that running through a 2x12, it would be sooooo good.

Also, Vox kinda has a rep for making amps with really good bass response

I've had the Pathfinder 15R now for about 7 years and it is easily one of the most versatile and full-bodied sounding practice amps I've ever used. The tone is basically modeled after an AC30, so you get this kinda creamy sort of faux-tube sound that's extremely well defined. Even though I just recently purchased an early 70s Twin Reverb, I still use the pathfinder for nearly all of my home recording. So yeah, I can totally vouch for it, as well.

I'm not sure if it had a speaker out jack. I used it in the sound-proof booth, and sometimes there arer cabs in there, sometimes not. The wasn't when I was there otherwise I definitely would have seen how well it drives an amp.

Foxy knows about this already, but I have been thinking about Vox ever since I played an AC30 at a store in Melbourne and I was blown away. Foxy has played through the exact same amp, I think.

Can't wait to get it 😀

i have not really played many amps in Melbourne, but my mate has one with the Alnico blue speaker, (he got it for 700$... 700!!! !!!!700!!!!!!! WTFFFFF SOOOOO CHHHEEEAAAPPP) freaking insanely good amps. i have played a path finder as well (about a year ago now)

it was really freaking good and even looked cool.

I thought you played the AC30 they had at Fretted Instruments on Brunswick st. The place with the Mustangs 😁

I JUST FOUND A FREAKING EPIC PRACTICE AMP!!!

The really cool things about these is that 1) they have a built in tuner 2) they are solid wood construction 3) IT'S FREAKING MELT YOUR FACE OFF ORANGE!!! 4)you can get a really snifty fuzz tone by using a dying battery

I still like the Vox Pathfinder better, but these are smaller and are also cheaper... I want one to just have sitting on my desk so I can jam out on it whenever I feel like it...

I tried on of those last weekend. I needed to use the tuner as the guitar I was using was way off. 😁

It was a nice little amp, I didn't ask it to do very much, but I preferred the mini Fender Tonemaster.

I prefer the Orange cuz (at least from what I've heard on the interwebz) it has a little bit more edge to it and also the tuner is a kick butt feature on an amp that size. But to each his own.

Aren't the Orange Crush the only SS amps that Orange makes? From what I've heard they are very good sounding solid states, but there is no way in heck they could compare to a similar tube amp... Is this why they get such a bad rap?

A ton of bass amps (if not most) are solid state, so bassists aren't really comparing their bass amps to their tube counterparts... which guitarists tend to do a lot of...

On the bass side I have heard they are decent I have no experience so I won't comment but I'll venture to say they are most likely decent now speaking from experience I have tried many Orange Crush amps....They are lest then decent they have absolutely no similarity to any other Orange amp other then the fact that they are Orange...The tone was to put it frankly ####, I've heard Marshall MG's that sounded better then the Crush series, they seem Way overpriced for what they have to offer, and the micro Crush is just horrid for 55 dollars you could get a much better 1 watt amp both of Fenders are amazing great (Tonemaster and Mini Twin I got both and love them).

So in short I never recommend Orange's Crush series the 15R sounds very dull and lifeless to me which is what an Orange SHOULD NOT SOUND LIKE!!!! The reason I love Oranges is because they are so lush and vibrant. In short I'd save the 120 or whatever and wait till u can buy a vox Valvetronix or something. If you really want a desktop amp then I'd say check out the Fender Mini Twin or Tone Master.

I find pathfinder 15r sounds boxey and lacks bass compare to a mgcd15r. Must be due to the open-back design. But maybe in a closed bedroom it'll sound different.

The tremolo on the pathfinder gives it's edge over the Mg series.

Friends, I just bought a VOX Pathfinder 10...brand new for $70. I've played it about an hour and I'm getting decent clean; real twangy spank; and some pretty cool distortion. Woman tone with lots of sustain; sharp metalic tone; a touch of echo or somethin like that with the gain set high (no reverb or tremolo control); a little feedback; and a wee bit of a rattle with too much volume when gain's cranked.

It's a bit larger than what I need and still may trade it in for an Orange Micro Crush or an Amplug AC30. But the deal was right down the block from a hotel I'm livin in for the next 2 months... and there sat my guitar crying to be played. I'm just happy to be playin.

If anyone's interested, I believe these 10s have been discontinued so good discounts ought to be available anywhere.
