Replacing Jaguar electronics

Hello everybody!!

I bought my jaguar 2 months ago. I have played my candy apple red Japanese jaguar since then, and after that I think that the sound is not as good as I expected. So I'm thinking in replacing the electronics because I'm not very happy with the original stock electronics.

I mostly play indie rock like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Bloc Party, The Cinematics, The Kooks, The Pigeon Detectives, The Strokes, Interpol, Editors... so I would like to sound more or less like that, with a warm and vintage sound, but the sound that I get with my jaguar is very very treble and sometimes annoying...

I'm thinking in replacing:

-The pickups: I'm not sure if I should go for the original Fender American vintage AVRI's pickups or for the Seymour Ducan SJAG-1. What do you think? Which ones will fit with my style?

-The pots: as the sound that I get is very treble... should I change the pots from the lead circuit from 1 M to 500 k? Should I change both (volume+tone) or just one (tone or volume)? What happens if I only replace the lead circuit pots and not the rythm circuit pots? Will this affect to the lead circuit sound (because they are connected...)?

-The wiring: should I change all the wires or I won't get much sound change with it?

Do you know any cheap online shop in Europe?

I was looking for the answers in the forum but I couldn't find them... so I'm so sorry if some questions are already asked!!

I'm new on this issue and I only want to learn with you. I'm learning a lot of new things here. I already own a les paul so these guitars are completely new for me... 😡

What amp do you have? pedals etc? i think the amps settings would be a fair easier way to fix your guitar tone. thought about getting and EQ pedal?

I have an Ibanez TS-9, a Korg A3 (rack) and a Line6 Pod XT pro. I use different amps, but the main thing is that I notice that with different amps set in the pod xt used with headphones (apart from using the amps). So I guess it's an electronic problem. I read a lot of articles and posts that talked about the bad japanese electronics, so I would like to fix it... 😕

to be honest. replacing the electronics wont do that much.

Interested as well about the two first questions, pickups and pots. It would be great to change the tone of only one of the circuits, without changing the tone of the other.

try lowering the value of the resistor across the two lugs of the lead tone pot, that's what i did and it helped immensly, sounds waaaayyyyy better with moderate to heavy distortion.....

I had a CIJ Jag and to be honest, it was pretty good at getting that Bloc Party/Interpol kind of sound. But..

Change the Cap not the pots like antisyst said, it will save you time and money. The wiring is'nt worth changing unless you are getting a lot of RF interference imo, an overall rewire and upgrades is always gonna improve stuff but before you know it you may as well had bought an AVRI.

One thing i did and would always recommend is changing the bridge pickup. SJag-3 in particular or the Antiquity II.
