hello,

this is my first post on this forum, tho i've been lurking around for a few weeks. 😎

i picked up my first Fender Mustang last week,

it's a 'Crafted in Japan' '69 reissue in Sonic Blue, lefthanded model.

i ordered it in a lefties-only store, took about a month to arrive.

I absolutely love this guitar, it plays very comfortable &i love its sound.

Over time i might change the pickups for Lace Sensors but for now the stock ones are just fine.

I feared some tuning problems (heard the Mustang easily goes out of tune), especially with the kind of music i play (garage with lots of Sonic Youth influences) but it's fine.

I'm used to 11's, this guitar came with 10's and i left them on, might get used to 'em..heh..

Congrats. Sonic Blue with the turtoise shell has always been one of my favorites.

took it to the rehearsal for the first time this sunday, this thing really cuts thru anything, i love the nasal yet punchy sound, lots of attitude, i use a big muff pi for more distorted/fuzzy sounds, great match i think, no loss of articulation.

i don't have a hardshell case for it at this moment but i'm considering getting one later on and i was wondering if there are other lefty mustang players here who have a hardshell case that's a good fit, i've got a fender g&l hardshell case for lefthanded precision basses for my p-bass and was wondering if a g&l standard case for lefthanded strats would fit a lefthanded mustang (?)

I've just got a standard no-name strat case that I use for my lefty Mustang and it fits fine. It's not totally snug, but isn't bad.

a lefthanded configuration i presume, or a standard righty case for strats?

hm, the last one would be pretty handy since i won't have to start 'hunting' for a lefty case then..much easier, hehe.. 😎

Standard righty. As it's smaller than a strat it fits fine. But I would just take yours down to the guitar shop to try it out to make sure.

Definatly make sure if fits. Mustangs are actually longer than Strats or Teles, so sometimes don't fit.

yeah, there's a guitarstore near the rehearsalspot so i'll just drop by after a rehearsal, they always have a bunch of standard hardshell cases in stock.

i kind of like those grey/silver cases fender (g&l) produces for jags, jm's,stangs, jag-stangs, but the chance that the shop will actually have one of those in stock, so i can see if it fits, is very small...this is Belgium..after all..hehe..i can't be too picky. bleh.
