i'd look on ebay for a cab in the 1x12 or 2x12 region, without or with crappy speakers, there are quite a lot of vintage or home-made cabs on it usually, then buy two 12" jensens or sth. and you should be fine for 150 quid.

(if you are looking for a new one try this and tell me what it's like, will you?)

Secondhand Marshall cabs are usually pretty cheap, either that or look on something like gear4music for something because they're normally ridiculously cheap.

End of the day, a cab's a cab, it's a wooden box with speakers in it. It can only be so good or so bad, and for the most part I would always assume the only major difference is the model of speakers. If you don't like them, you can spend like

Its the speakers that matter. Goodmans were great speakers, i cant remember who used them now but i think it was Vox or HiWatt..

The cab itself is pretty irrelevant although we all like them to look the part.

there is this joy division video where you see them play in a large warehouse-type room, with worn out 4x12 cabs with only two speakers in it, which made me think the best idea would be to just get an old empty 4x12 and to try and play around with matched and mismatched speakers.
