Death By Audio Fuzz War ... don't like it!

I've just bought a Death By Audio Fuzz off of the ol' ebay, but I'm not thrilled with it yet. Before this I had an Ashbass Mosrite fuzz clone, but that was too much like a swarm of bees for what I need. Anyone got any setting suggestions? I'm trying for a MBV/Chapterhouse shoegaze thing.

i am the DBA man of jag-stang. what DBA fuzz do you have? there are numerous? but i assume you've got a fuzz war?

Maybe it's just not sounding right in my set-up as a whole..? What settings do you have yours on, and what's with that hidden screw thingy that needs adjusting? I've adjusted that all the way left, but I can't tell for sure where it's set to otherwise (if that makes sense)?

the "hidden screw thingy" adjusts the gain. i would place it where u fel necessary, i have my on about 3/4 which is more than enough

i tend to have the shape at 1-2 o clock and the volume wherever.

You think it's placed poorly in the chain? 'Level' is on the left - that's the shape one then? (As the other is not named)

where it is in the chain is up to you. but i would have it about there i think.

the left knob is level. other knob is shape

i recommend you watch the pro guitar shop video demo of the fuzz war, and try some of the settings andy uses.

I must say i'm very impressed with them.

I hear a few bands in them. Joy Division/New Order and a bit of the cure also a touch of sonic youth.
