Electro Harmonix 22 Caliber Power Amp What do u think?

Have you guys seen this thing it looks crazy cool a 22 watt power amp for the palm of your hand!

Handles 4-16ohm cabs also pretty cool stuff!

It might be kinda nice to have if you're going over to a bandmate's house for rehearsal so you don't have to lug a full size amp around (assuming said bandmate has a spare cab you can use of course). Not sure how well it'd work for live applications, and as McC said it needs tubes.

i actually really like the idea, i will share an idea on this.

WHAT IF!

you could have your favorite amp modle at your feet or on your pedal board, and you just plugged into a cab?

would you like that or do you feel it would be a hassle?

i see it as a step towards a better/newer take on amps(head/combo style units)

I''m wondering how it would react with pedals lets say I want tube tone because lets be on honest who doesnt! But I can afford a tube amp so I buy a cabinet an english muffn and a 22 Caliber, do you think the presence of tubes from the Muffn would affect the 22 caliber in a negative or positive way?

I mean if you had such set up in essence it would be somewhat of an equivalent of a valve state amp, just an idea I thought of. I honestly might buy one of these and a small cabinet just to avoid the hassle of carrying my HRDX to my schools mass services.

or you could have the tube driven pedal constanlty on but at low gain effectively just adding tubes before the amp (is this basically what preamp tubes do anyway?) and then use other dirt pedals to drive the tubes

That might be what he was suggesting... I didn't fully understand his post, but I think that is essentially what he was getting at...

It could be useful imo, I don't know a lot about amps but if 22 watts is loud enough for band practise, you could leave a small cab in yr practise room permanently (assuming it's secure) and use this with it and then just use yr regular amp for gigs.

I like the idea but the Crate Power Block still rules by a long way... 150w amp the size of an average portable radio.

22w restricts this EHX, if it was 80w-100w everyone would chuck one in their gigbag. Just as a back up alone.

I agree I think there just going more for really easy portability its like an amp you can bring somewhere that your more valuable equipment might be in danger 😆

Lets say your going to a little house party and your drinking and your friend has a cabinet you can bring them in a cheap guitar and rock out and not care if say someone falls over your cabinet and soaks the pedal in beer 😆 Well I still might care haha.

I just like the fact that I'm probably going to buy this and I will no longer have to be lugging around a heavy combo amp to after school practices I'm such a lazy bastard these days its awful.
