1986 gibson melody maker prices?

my drummer wants to get rid of his gibson melody maker, ive traced the serial and it was made in 1986, its the LP style, solid red, one silver humbucker.

he wants to take it down to denmark street and wants me to come (I think he sees me as some kind of Mr T figure, in monetary terms), so I thaught id see what you guys think it could be worth before i go and pitty those fools behind the counter with my bargaining skills

first off don't go down denmark street if you see jeeps driving around, chances are there are events at hand much more serious than getting gyped for a guitar.

80's melody makers don't go for that much, sadly. i would think 500 quid or something based on the prices of early 80's used examples i find here. somewhere in that vicinity, you can always haggle it up a bit. save the Mr. T stuff for the music industry.
