hi, i'm trying to adjust the tremolo on my '75 Jaguar. It seems that the Screw to adjust the spring/the balance has no grip/effect on the tremolo. As i put the trem out i can see that the spring turn with the screw an there's no result to the tension of the spring, exerpt when i fix the spring with my fingers it grips and changes tension.

What can i do to give the grip back to the screw....without my fingers?

I guess it ain't catching the threads. That's a toughie. Not sure what the best solution for that is though. Rick, any ideas?

it sounds like it's turning it round with the movement of the screw. you could try taking the trem off. then holding the brass threaded piece at the other end of the spring. then turn it round with your hand. firstly to check that it isn't threadbare. then try tightening it up a bit before you put the trem back on. i'm sure it'll stop the brass piece moving arond with the screw once the spring is pushing it a little harder
