"made in japan" jazzmaster question

I recently bought a jazzmaster off craigslist. The guy that sold it to me(for cheap!) told me it was a 90's reissue. The serial number of this "made in japan", not "crafted in" jazzmaster starts w/ an E and has 6 digits. The info I have found online dates this from 84'-87', but I can't find any info on jazzmasters made in japan during that time period. Anyone know where I can find out more info on this guitar?!? Thanks.

I did google it. I found more info just browsing around on this site and found the answer I was looking for. thanks for the advice.

How much did you pay? I have two of these MIJ E6 guitars, a Jaguar and a Jazzmaster, both sunburst. Very good quality instruments.

Paid $625. It's a little beat up, but the neck is in near mint condition and it sounds pretty damn awesome. Really stoked on this guitar!
