Vd400 is actually a dm 3 clone. Dm 2s use different chips and circuit. Dm 2s originally came with the rare mn3005 chip and later switched to the mn3205 chip, neither of which are in the behringer. Also behringer runs at lower voltage rating than a Dm 2 and 3, meaning less headroom. The original dm 2 with the mn3005 is the "holy grail" version with higher voltage rating than the mn3205 version, which has less clarity and less musical distortion.
A lot of analog delays get muddy quick, especially on the longer delay times, the dm 2 is fairly dark, especially the mn3205 version.
Just purchased the analogman ardx20, uses different chips and runs on 9v but actually runs a 12v regulated for more headroom. Supposedly the tone is close to the dm 2, only the ardx20 is 600ms vs 300ms of the dm 2. Will post review when I recieve it.
