Hello, have just bought an Fender Jag-stang (fiesta red) in all stock condition.

Been reading alot on this wonderful forum, seems like people have complains about somethings with the guitar.

My impressions of the guitar are following:

Goes easy out of tune.

Stock pick-ups is not good.

I would love to fix these things as soon as the guitar arrives.. So i could maybe buy some things and prepare myself for some work in advance.

So what can i do about those things?

And i have read something about a "250k.." .. thing in the guitar that should be replaced by "500k.." something, i don't understand that becouse im from Sweden and im limited by some word or phrases..

Can someone please explain this?

Welcome to the forum. 😁

Some people like the stock pickups, some don't, so you'll have to see when it arrives for yrself. The going out of tune thing is I think to do with the Mustang tailpeice/whammy. There's a set up guide I think either in the Jag-Stang or Mustang section of the forum.

The 250k to 500k thing you were talking about is the Volume pot (knob) most people change them when you have a humbucker, or a high output pickup.

Okay! I don't know too much about guitar tech, would you please explain the diffrence between 250k and 500k and should i change if i e.g. put on some seymour duncan JB's?

500k pots are brighter sounding and are louder than 250k pots, which have a smoother more mellow sound, but some people consider them overly bassy or find them too muddy. Generally, guitars with humbuckers use 500k pots and guitars with single coils use 250k pots. If you were to put in JB's I would definitely recommend going to 500k pots.

So all i have to do is change the pots to 500k and the humbucker, i can keep the single coil and the switches as stock?

Do i have to change input where i plug in the cable as well?

from my understanding you are correct and that all you'd have to change is the humbucker and the pots and that you'd just leave everything else (including the jack) as it is now.

So what to do about the vibrato bridge? I saw mad mikes tutorial on youtube, think it's a little bit advance for me, is there any easier way to make the jagger-stang stay in tune?

On my JS I simply tightened the springs in the trem as tight as they'd go without raising the strings above the bridge. This makes it function more similar to a hardtail although restringing is still a pain. Another bad thing about this set up is that I can't fingerpick on the high e string without it jumping its saddle slightly. Also, I've never tried dropping the tuning with this set up and I'm not sure how well it works with that. I will say however that it does make your typical day to day tuning a lot easier, and to me it seems to stay in tune better. If you actually use the whammy bar though this prolly isn't the set up for you.

I have played for some hours, can't say that i hate the pickups but i don't like em either so.

I have a Gibson Dirty fingers pickup in my other guitar, and i love the sound of that pickup, but i won't go for that one in the jag-stang so i think i will go for Seymour duncan JB's, seems pretty good right?

We're in severe need of demos, the ones we have already are great but more are always needed...
