As some of you already know I applied for a job with the census about a week ago. and while we won't officially know if I got the job until mid-February to March, I scored so high on the test (which is really easy, but I guess a lot of people have a really hard time with it) and there's such a great need for workers where I live, that I'm pretty much guaranteed a job. So I was thinking and decided that instead of blowing the money I earn on a bunch of little things like pedals and things like that, I'm going use the bulk of it to get something really cool. While thinking about it, my mind kept going back to the thing I've wanted pretty much the entire time I've been playing guitar..... A hardtail Strat. While I know you can easily mod a regular Strat into a hardtail, there's just something about a Strat that was built as a hardtail that I cannot get over. So I'm going to build one. I'm gonna be using a fiesta red maple body from Warmoth, a vintage repro Strat neck with a maple fingerboard from wdmusic (7 1/4" radius 😁 ), and GFS Vintage '64 Staggers pickups. I'm also gonna be using a Graphtec TUSQ XL nut and Guitarfetish Kluson style tuners. And according to my calculations it should cost about the same as a Robert Cray Signature Strat (which is the cheapest hardtail Strat available from Fender). I hate to count my chickens before they've hatched, but I'm really freaking excited about this. And seriously there's like a 95% chance I'll get the job, so I'm like 95% certain that this'll actually happen (the only way this won't happen is if I dun get the job). What're ur thoughts?
