I recently joined the site and posted some pics of the Firemist Gold '65 Jag I just bought, and had a request to post some pics of my other Jags, so I hope that's ok with everyone. This one's a 1966, A true Foam Green Jaguar, but a previous owner stripped it to bare wood in the 70's with the exception of the pickup cavities. I guess "natural" finishes were in fashion back then, because it seems that I see many Jags and JM's finished this way... In any case, it was restored back to its original glory, complete with matching headstock. With the exception of the nitro repaint and a few grub screws, every part on it is original including pots, wiring, pickguard, pickups, tuners, etc. Even the original chrome hardware and fasteners were reused.
I always loved this color, and actually set out to find one in this shade... but untouched originals are very scarce as well as very expensive.... and any I I found were usually in pretty poor condition, with asking prices nearing 5 figures. I pretty much wrote off the thought of buying one, until I found this. While most folks seem to prefer the "pre-CBS" versions, I can't help but dig these early CBS Jags with the transitional pearl dots/white binding on the neck. It was apparent that Fender wanted to make these stand out, and I personally believe the 65 and 66 era produced some of the best quality Jaguars of them all. The neck has the perfect shape, and just feels right in my hands. The Gold one I just bought has a very similar feel, and a much "fuller" neck than my early 64. Anyhow, enough blabbing... here are a few pics for those who asked about it.
