As you all know I'm a bogner fan and when I came across this schematic, I wanted to build it.

What it is, is the sharp channel from the Bogner triple giant preamp. This was used in the recording of Megadeth's rust in peace by Marty and also by Jerry Cantrell (probably). It sounds pretty bognerish, from megadeth's record and the few sound clips so it'll pull of that AiC sound pretty well.

I've already built the circuit out of the parts I have and only need a few resistors, caps, tubes, pots and a footswitch to finish it.

As you can see, the box nearly finished painting and the board is looking good too. Its all carefully designed so I won't have any funny crap going on.

But will it work? and how will it sound? 😉

You might want some slits in the enclosure for the tubes so it doesn't all get super hot.

You'll have to lend it to me so I can review it, as self proclaimed gear whore.

If the guy who made that schematic did it, then it should work 😉

Problem is, I don't know what transformer to get. It needs to put out 250 volts and have the right amount of power.

I truly hope you are an experienced builder considering the voltages involved!!!

It is my first pedal, but certainly not my first project. I've plenty of experience with electronics and electrocutions!

Now you're here.... are 1/4 watt resistors enough for this and what transformer can I use?

No idea about the transformer as I'm not really into amps much but if you're wanting to build an amp/ amp emulation pedal in such a small enclosure you should look into toroidal transformers.

1/4 watt are fine for a lot of positions in amps but then some positions call for 1/2 watt or even 1 watt, you should really get a hold of a good schematic with notes etc.

Will you actually be using tubes or replacing (redrawing the schem) them with fets?

I will be using 2 12ax7s.

I think I've found the right tranny. I'll get a 110-250 tranny from mouser that is rated at 17.5w. I'll probably go for the external power supply option but an internal 12v transformer. I'll get my blue voodoo modded with the correct wiring taps so it can run directly off UK voltage. That'll free up the step down transformer for use with the pedal.

Thought you might also like to know that the orignal bogner triple drew 27w for all 3 channels. I wish we had a russian speaker on the forums.
