John Frusciante Use Mustangs Anymore?

Any Chili Peppers fans know if John uses Mustangs/Jags anymore? ive been looking and all the rigs i found are frmo 2001 and theres only strats,teles,and his gretsch but there are so many pics of him with an old red with matching stock Jag and a Red Mustang<-mustang is in Guitar World.

SO PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME DOES JOHN USES STANGS AND JAGS ANYMORE?

i saw them on tv, performing infront of the BBC building. he just seemed to be using old strats...

He stopped using interesting guitars once the chilli peppers stopped being interesting.

damn cause in Guitar World he has a red mustang. Grrr the old strats are gay there soo plain i love the mustang much more but i still love John hes awesome one of my heroes for the things he has overcome. Thanks for the input guys and Rick im very jealous u saw him live!

He still uses Jags, when they were here for a BDO a few years back he used one. Also on the stadium arcadium DVD he has one there (I cant remember if it was Olympic White or Sunburst, also I'm sure he even plays it on the DVD)

haha wow i missed the ON TV part haha but i need to watch the DVD again they show his guitars when they talk to his Guitar Tech! Thanks again for all the input!

he never used mustangs to record or perform with, he just had a red moreso-shortscale one (the 21 fret version) to take with him on the road to play in his hotel room or backstage before the concert or something, did the same thing with the '69 jag when he stopped using it onstage. but then he realized that an acoustic guitar would be much better suited to such duties, the mustang has only been used in photoshoots as far as i know.

i guess he actually used the mustang on "windup space" on his trowftd solo album, but that was like a three note guitar part. distinctively mustang-sounding though, and he mentioned it in an interview from back then.

i used to love that dude until everyone else started liking him in the early 2000's and his solo music stopped being special and unique, as if the result of discomfort with his first two disjointed home-recording albums when he just dicked around on guitar and screamed his head off. i loved those. nobody knew about them and it was like, my special music... i know that sounds gay as hell.

He still practices alot with that red one tha paul mentioned. I've read a few magazine articles with him, before a practice session and he was weilding it.

Anyways, I never knew he actually even used it much for any recording anyways... the Jag that is. Under the Bridge is the only RHCP song I can remember that he specifically had it, other than that it's present on most of his solo stuff. The Mustang I'm pretty sure was only from that photo shoot.

There's a Jag in the "My Friends" video, but really from the tone that could be any old (fender) guitar

"Thats a Fender Jaguar I borrowed from our recording engineer, Jim Scott. I like Jags- they get a real cool, cheap sound. I played it through two Marshalls: a JTM 45 and a 100-watt SuperBass. I used the Jag for the whole song, but I changed the 2-position toggle by the roller knobs. It's down for the intro and verse, and up for the chorus. The intro and verse tones sound different because I'm hitting the guitar differently."

I always had the sneaking suspision that Under the Bridge was actually a strat, but really I think it's possible for a Jag (or any fender) to come pretty close to the strat tone anyways if you tweak enough knobs, especially through the marshall amps he likes to use.
