Ok, Here's the "gateway Jag" that started my addition. The first Jaguar, and first "vintage" guitar I ever bought. Believe it or not, I found this in a local guitar shop hanging on a wall rack mixed in with a sea of late model Strats, Teles, and one other old sunburst Jag. I had never even considered an offset guitar prior to seeing this, but something struck me about it, and I had to try it out. I left that day without it, (It was way more $ than I carry with me!) but I came home and couldn't get it off my mind. I actually called the store owner that same afternoon, and began a week long negotiation for it. It's finished in coral/salmon, and reportedly was refinished in this color when it was only a few years old.. which was cool to me, because the old lacquer paint has aged for well over 30 years and has developed a cool patina...Its not beat up, in fact it's in very nice condition overall, but has a few small bumps and bruises from years of playing. The neck has the original factory finish and decal, and has a heel date of December 1963. Frets are original, and also have a little wear, but it plays really well with the action set slightly on the high side... and the feel of the old "clay dot" neck is silky smooth. Wiring, pots, and pickups are original, as are all the switches. The tuners were replaced with a newer set of repro Kluson Deluxes awhile back. The pickguard is not the original, as at one time someone had added a third "middle" pickup from a strat... So it's a bit of a mongrel, but I love it just the same...so much that it started me on a quest for more old Jaguars...but this one is probably always gonna be my favorite since it was the one that started it all for me.
