I did have a DS-1 for a while.

And it was a Japanese one from 1983.

And I sold it for $100 after paying $45 for it.

And it made me sound EXACTLY like Kurdtz. It was like magic.

But I wanted to sound like ME, not KC, so I got rid of it.*

Why would someone want something made out of gold that is designed to be stomped on and beat up?? It's the sort of thing for people with more dollars than sense.

I have one from 81 or so, its jap and it does sound exactly like the nevermind tour live guitar.

Its a great pedal, I saw a list once and countless classic albums have been recorded with it. I'll never get rid of mine. (I never use it though, I pretty much only play big muffs)

Mine was really just a lucky find at a pawn shop. Once I found out how much it was worth, selling it was a no-brainer.

I've never really had much interest in effects. I own an overdrive pedal that was a gift, and will eventually get around to buying a chorus pedal.

But yeah, the amount of times I have seen a ds-1 in someones rack at a gig or watching a concert film is staggering. They are everywhere. Bashing them has become popular in recent times, but if so many professional musicians - many of them fabulously wealthy - are using them, they must have something going for them.

^People use them coz they're tough as #### and easy to find on the road if it does crap out. A lot of people won't use them stock though.

+1. I have one, and I can see why some people would like them, but there's just not enough gain and too much mids for me. I prefer turning the Distortion right down and using it as a booster... Iirc that's what Kurt did anyway.
