Crossonte Hi there hope someone can help me out.my volume knob only works in one spot and is not to reliable there.is it just a case of me soldering the connection on the right back onto the tone pot? (right of pic)im clueless with stuff like this so any help would be appreciated.
Joey Looks like ya just gotta solder that jumper wire that is loose on to the pot. I don't have a schematic in front of me, I'd assume the wire goes to the pot on the left hand side, right terminal.
Crossonte Thanks man thats what i assumed but its good to hear it off someone with a clue about this stuff 😆
Crossonte I just solderd the gap over its working now.so cheers 😁 but im now getting a hum when my hands are off the fretboard? probably just my below par soldering?
Fran The hum is common, if it stops when you touch a metal part of the guitar it is normal. But it can be improved with shielding. For starters that wire that was loose oughta be shielded and if there isnt already a wire going to the shielded paint in the cavity (usually connected with a little screw and ring) that may improve things. Have the pickups been changed around at any point in this guitars life?
Crossonte yer it stops when i touch the fretboard. I cant see anything connected to the paint work though.i was told the pickups are stock but i only recently got the guitar.ta for the help 😁
Fran More to the point, WTF is that diode or whatever it is doing connected to the tone pot? Did you put that there?
JaguarOW Fran said: More to the point, WTF is that diode or whatever it is doing connected to the tone pot? Did you put that there?its a resistor fran 😉my first instinct would be to say its something to do with keeping the high end when the volume is rolled down
Fran Fran said: More to the point, WTF is that diode or whatever it is doing connected to the tone pot? Did you put that there?Hmm, i'd considered that or some form of 'pot hacking' to reduce the value of the 1meg. Not saying its a bad idea but i am very curious.

Fran Coolio, looks like Jag and Funtoosh were right. You should demo us that Jag, i'd like to hear the difference that cap makes 😉
funtoosh didn't you have a highway one strat, fran? i think they came with this mod.(ah no, wait, they had greasebucket wiring, that's bit more complex.)
