I ordered a 3m length of Van Damme instrument cable and 18 Neutrik jacks over the weekend off eBay, and it came to about

I heard that the more pedals you get, the better your signal is.

I'm not really hugely bothered a bit of treble loss. And a quality buffer towards the end of a board can get rid of any problems with true bypass and a long signal chain, so I don't really care. My sound isn't going to be completely destroyed by about 3 ft of cheap patch cables.

Fixed. Seriously.

You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes, I tried A/Bing my whole fx chain against bypassing all my pedals and my clean tone woke up completely. My cleans are quite important to me, so it's always worth considering spending a bit of extra money I reckon.

i love clean tone, and play lots of stuff clean, and it may make a slight difference to you when comparing, but do you honestly think anyone cares? when listening to your music.

I know, I just didn't like the way you said it like it was universal truth. You kind of have a habit of doing that, if you don't mind me saying.

I'm not being anal about it, it makes a huge difference, and while I'm primarily recording I want my guitar to sound exactly as I want it to sound, which is incidentally with the high-end intact. I think that's perfectly reasonable to be honest.

And that wasn't supposed to come off as "universal truth", my use of the first person pronoun was supposed to highlight that it was for me, not for anyone else. Perhaps you'd like me to go back and italicise "my" or something, so as to not misinform all those lurkers out there?

It makes more sense to me to have a setup where I don't have to keep messing with it, rearranging it and taking bits out just to get it to sound a particular way when I can just as easily put a little bit more money into making it sound the way I want it to all the time without any problems.

And that's fair enough I guess. The way you put it just seems very imposing, like "it applies to me, so it should apply to everyone else". But if you didn't mean it like that, then I guess it's not an issue.

You know what, let this be the last of it, but actually read what I'm saying! I didn't shoot you down. I don't have a problem with you having an opinion, I have a problem with you presenting it like everyone else should have the same opinion as you. If you have a scan round, I believe Chris made a similar comment somewhere a day or two ago as well, it is something you have a habit of doing and I'm not the only person who's picked up on it.

Yeah I get it, you, Luke and Chris don't like how opinionated I am, and how I voice things. I'm afraid I won't change, and I also recognise you didn't ask me to, you were just making me aware of it.

You were saying you like to sound the way you want without problems, so do I, hence my snobbery and love for some boutique products.
