humbucker guitar

so ive decided that after many years of playing single coils exlusivly, that adding a guitar with some humbuckers would be a solid addition to my quiver. im looking for something the 300-500 range. ill be using this for mostly 50s blues and 60s rock, but really know very little about different styles of humbuckers, and it and 80s style guitar forget about it.

i thought the ibanez jetking would be a pretty good choice, as its pretty cheap, ive heard solid reviews and the coil taping would be pretty useful as im mainly a single coil guy, any other similar humbucker guitars you think i should look at?

The Jetking is a really good looking guitar, would be a good alternative choice. Going with something a bit more common, how about a 335 style guitar? Say, an epiphone dot or a Washburn HB30. I have the Washburn and they are very nice guitars for the money. There are a lot of options out there. Here are some more;

ooo, i really like that washburn hb32, i have a mahogany martin acoustic that i absolutly love, its just nice, warm and deep, and for 300 bucks thats a phenominal deal same goes for the dot studio. im definetly sold on the semi hollowbody idea.

i think ill have to check out guitar center and see which one i like better feel wise. i have a gfs retrotron bridge pup lying around that i think ill put in the bridge. what do you guys think about putting one of those bendetto jazz pups up front?

Do not purchase a new guitar without checking out the Ibanez Artcore series. Seriously.

On a budget...Epiphone Les Paul standards and S.G.'s will deliver what you want. In my experience the S.G. can suffer microphonic feedback at high volume but if you dropped a good quality PAF humbucker in there you'd have a great guitar for the sound your after.

The Jetking is a kool looking guitar but as for sounds i would'nt know.

If you can find a cheap Ibanez Artist that would be great, Yamaha 2000's and old Westbury s.g. type guitars were good quality 'bucker guitars.

i'd rate the epi SGs over the epi LPs, the strum of the LP's just feels really "plasticky" to me sometimes, not enough OOMPH. they play and sound well though.

This might be out of your price range, but try getting a used gibson lp standard or even a studio.

The BEST humbucker tone will come out of one of these guitars.

Interesting. I never thought about the 335 alikes, i've had a few copys myself and they are good bucker guitars but with a different character to solid bodys as you would imagine.

The epiphone sheraton is a really nice guitar, ibanez also do some decent twists on the 335, washburns are usually good quality as well. I agree with paul about the LP, they feel dull and are'nt really enjoyable to play imo but come to life through an amp.
