HELP WITH A LEFTY JAGSTANG BODY

I was playing a gig, and switched guitar for the last song (drop d tuning y'see!) Anyway, We finishedour set, and in the corner of my eye, I saw some shifty looking anus pick up my Jagstang. As soon as a turned my head he started running out the venue. I chased the b***ard and as he ran across the road he threw it down. Sadly the drop has split the body in 2, and splintered it badly. It has had several attempted repairs, but it's too far gone.

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement? Preferably genuine, but I'd consider any Left Handed JagStang body. The rest of my baby is fine, just need a body to bring it back to life! It is a guitar I hold dear to me as it was my first ever fender, and was brought by my father. Anyones advice or help would be such a great help. So please, help people.

that sux dude srry to hear about it. I'd prolly recommend that you frequently check in on ebay and craigslist. Or have Warmoth build you a new one, but they're pretty expensive (and also from my understanding they don't use the exact JS shape to avoid copyright issues, but I've never been able to see the difference, so either it's a ridiculously small difference or I was misinformed). I can't really think of anything else, but I'll let you know if I see a lefty body somewhere.

just out of curiousity, could you glue the pieces of the body back together?

This guitar is my pride and joy! It was the first and last guitar I genuinely Lusted after! Believe me, I have had it glued, tacked, seperated then re-repaired! This body has been repaired more times than I care to say, just to stop it hitting the junk heap! It has had it! I've just been too stubborn to admit it! I'm determined to make sure this guitar is buried with me. just gotta find the missing piece!

I've been looking virtually everytime I go online, and I haven't seen anything yet, so it's looking like Warmoth or a luthier are gonna be your best bet, unless you want to wait for what could be a very long time for one to pop up somewhere, which I assume you don't. In the meantime I have an idea that I can't really figure out how to explain in words so I'll kinda do a graphic representation and I'll post it when I'm finished with it.

I'll keep a look out too. You could PM Garagetone about building you one, but I don't think he likes doing orders. No harm in asking though.

In all actuality I prolly could've explained this using words, but I was kinda having a stupid moment and couldn't really figure out how to say it, but anyways here's my idea:

In theory, the glue inside of the split, the extra reinforcement from the wood on the back, and possibly certain pieces of the hardware (like the neck plate, the pickguard, and the trem plate) should hold your guitar in one piece. It wouldn't be the prettiest solution, but I believe it'd hold your guitar in one piece. You could even use it as a temporary fix until you can get another body. Also, if you felt the need to really make sure the piece of wood on the back was on there good, you could use screws instead of/in addition to the glue....

That is a damn fine idea! In fact, it's damn ace! But for a quick(ish) fix, I'm taking a trip to the wood merchants, I gave him a call, and he got a nice length of Lime wood (or Basswood to my good friends across the puddle!) So i'm going to attempt my first body, it ain't gunna be pretty, but it'll be functionable, and damn it, I may just get some body contours on there to! I'll be starting today, should be done by the weekend!! Anyone got any ideas how to post pics, so I can get your opinions on the finished offending item?

But please please please! If anyone does here of a body going, do let me know! This is a short term fix, would still like to get it all original!

Open a myspace account or a photobucket account. Upload the pictures from your computer into their website. Then left click photo, then right click photo & copy/paste the photo URL. Then ya paste it into your message using the IMG button located directly above your response message box as your typing it in. Just be sure to preview it a few times, make sure ya get it right.

Well it's cut and glued! had to use 3 lengths. It's in G-clamps as I type, time will tell what it looks like

sweet are you planning on painting it the same as the original finish? If so, here's a link where you can buy Fender custom colors paint.

Look in Ebay... last week I saw one for less than 750$... complete... pickup & everything...

Keep looking... I will tell you if i see one... because it's so sad to ear about a jagstang being stolen and trow away ☹

As it's not an original body, I'm not going to try and make it look like it. I'm going to keep it quick and easy, as I have a gig On tuesday next week. I'm going to stain it and laquer it. Got a friend with a spray shop and He's going to spray it for me on thurs. just hope that I can get it done today!! Going to leave it in the clamps untill i get back from work, then shape and route it. Should be fun! Haven't bookmatched the grain, hell, I haven't made any real effort to match the grain! But hey, I don't care, just lends itself more to that home made vibe! Definately going to put forearm and belly contours, thinking of having a holographic or metal flip flake in the laquer, but undecided. I'll get some pics up when I take some, If I can! Never uploaded pics to a forum before.
