DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay

I'm no expert on delay pedals, but they are supposed to delay, right?

I walked into Guitar Center today to purchase a DigiTech DigiDelay. I tried it and loved it, but I preferred the DeltaLab DD1 Digital Delay. (Mainly because of the price) I bought it, got it home, plugged it in, and it's not doing anything. As in I turn it on, strum, and there is no delay. No matter how I turn the knobs, nothing happens. I was hoping somebody knows what I'm doing wrong, because I don't want to walk back in and find out it was just something stupid like another button I should press.

[*]I have tried the knobs in all kinds of different positions

It's probable that you've just found out what makes cheap pedals cheap the hard way I'm afraid...

So, you think that I just got a faulty pedal?

Well, I did a quick search for the pedal in question, can't find much info on it other than that it's a very cheap pedal, and simply put, I wouldn't have trusted it at that price with that little a reputation. From what you've described I wouldn't have thought you're using it incorrectly, so I can only assume that it's a dodgy pedal, yeah.

The only thing I'll ask before jumping to that conclusion though is, are you using a 9 volt adaptor or a battery to power it?

You probably just got a dodgy pedal. All of the Tonelabs I've played so far have been ace...

Just goes to show, try before you buy...

I am using a battery to power it, I've tested the battery, it works fine.

I tried the pedal, but not the actual one I got...

I'm just going to return the pedal and get the DigiTech like I was going to in the first place.

cheap rebranded pedals made in china like that = terrible reliability

Especially delays and modulation, there is so much that can go wrong. A lot of factories will have poor QC and things with cold solder joints will be allowed through to be shipped.

Ah. No. It is the battery. (Or probably will be)...

I had this problem with my DD-6 when I was using it with a battery. Delays seem require the full 9V of potential difference to work. Any less than that at all and they have a bit of a hissy fit. Try it with a power supply, it should work. I thought i'd broken a broken DD-6, cause I did the same thing, plugged it in with the battery powering to find it didn't work, then testing the battery to see it has pretty much full charge.

Seems delay pedals are picky as a breed 😉

Yeah, there it is. Delays hate batteries. Try it with an adaptor, and if it still doesn't work, take it back.

Thank you, I never knew. I never buy power supplies, but I'll have to get one.

I hate using batteries tbh. It's always at the back of my mind that it could run out.

i have an overdrive, the bass synth and two in the post, so far none have died, and i dont think the plastic is a problem as i tend not to jump two footed onto my pedals 😆

Cool beans. I'm glad yr finally getting a delay, they're the most fun effect to me and my personal favourite. I do like how Behringer make clones of discontinued BOSS pedals on the cheap, like Slow Gear, Distortion/Feedbacker etc. Imo though their EHX clones are too expensive, in the case of the Small Stone and Muff clones they're not too much less than the actual EHX ones...

I got a "new" Behringer Bass Synth...

It came to me scratched up and completely dead. Worst pedal ever... Probably would've sounded decent had it work.

I got mah Delay today, Keeley AD-9 with True-Bypass mod. 😁

Don't like it massively, but meh...

Think I'll try and flip it in like, 6 months. I can probably get more than I paid.

I once left my pedals plugged in and on ALL night. They lasted me a week of playing for more or less an hour each day.
