Offset Silvertone Fastback?

I saw a Samick (Silvertone) Fastback FB1 at a pawn shop today, the first I'd ever seen. The small, offset body caught my eye. One bad pot.

Any opinions on these guitars?

Alex helped me identify that this FB1 has a Floyd Rose Classic locking trem & nut. Aftermarket.

It's a go. I'd just learned the difference between the Floyd Rose Pro and the Classic after Alex helped confirm it was a Floyd Rose I was lookin at.

The trem works fine and I like the neck, a bit wider than my old Mustang. Fixing the pot might cost $30US or so. And I'll have to order a trem bar.

So I'm gonna ask them to throw in a case.

Do remember you will have to get a special floyd rose bar. They have a sort of funny bushing on them and don't come out easily. They stay exactly where they are though 😉

Yeah, I guessed that after I looked more closely. I think there's a Floyd Rose website that sells the bar for about 15 USD. Or do you have a suggestion where I should look for one?

And if the pot needs replacing, who makes good quality not too expensively?

Bought the offset Samick Fastback (FB1) today. The shop had cleaned the pot and it's workin fine. So I've been playin it a lot today.

I'm used to the neck of my old Mustang, which I do love. But playing this little offset is like shedding shoes I'd outgrown and putting on the right size.

Got it with a new hardshell case for 150 USD. Thanks for your help, guys.

150 dollars total or 140 for the guitar + 150 for the case?

If its the second one, they sell high quality cases for less 😕 ...

Cy, they gave me a new MBT case (someone must have pawned a guitar in a new case) a replacement trem bar, and the guitar for 150 USD...yousa!

Thanks for askin. I'll send pix when I get home but I'm workin on a project in Texas for the next three weeks.

I wanted to get a smallish, inexpensive guitar cuz I travel alot for work. So now I've got my travelling axe (and my Fender Frontman 10 fits in my suitcase). BTW, the Floyd Rose is not aftermarket...it is original to the guitar but is a "licensed" FR.

Hey, Guys, I was in Austin Vintage Guitars yesterday and came across what I thought was my little Samick offset...it turned out to be this EVH Wolfgang. My Samick Fastback is a hybrid of this Wolfgang and the Ernie Ball Axis.

I'm still lovin it...but it's spoiling me for my old Mustang.

Thanks for the post. I bought this Les Paul Junior on Ebay and it came in this case.I was wondering which Silvertone guitar this case was made for. I just ordered a TKL LP Junior case so maybe I will put this one on ebay.

Why? The mis-matching gives it a nice, "Look what I picked up." feel, in my humble opinion.

Like when I got my Aria bass with some odd, no-name case from the early 90s, and a strap from a 60s Japanese guitar company 😆 .

the fastback reminds me of the Starfield Cab a little bit.

how do you find the Samick/Silvertone?

I had a Samick HSS strat maybe 15 years ago, I thought it was pretty nice. only paid 100bucks for it.

Could be the Silvertone Fastback case. Wish I had that one. The case I have may be the case that came with the original purchase because it's a very good fit for the offset shape, but it's not a Silvertone-logo case.

When I get my Les Paul Junior case I am going to sell this case. I can let you know before I put it on ebay if you like.It's a nice case. I like the super plush lining and the big padded leather handle.
