JB Jr. doesn't fit into '65 reissue?

Just got word that the Seymour Duncan JB Jr. pickup doesn't fit into the wooden cavity on the guitar. ☹

I thought you guys had luck with this? Any other pick ups that would be a good substitute?

I'm pretty sure I've never heard of this problem before... If you want suggestions, have you considered Lace pickups? Look on their site, yr bound to find one you like.

I have my guitar at this place that I heard repairs guitars. He told me that strat style pickups even lace sensor wont fit in the mustang body. Is this correct? 😲😲

Clearly this guy isn't familiar with Mustangs than. So does the JB Jr. really not fit or is this BS. I'm thinking of trying to return the pickup to Musicians Friend (I bought in Dec.) and getting a set of Gold-Red Lace Sensor pick ups for some other person to put in. Wish me luck. 😆

It fit in the pick guard but the JB Jr. made the pick guard lopsided... so that's why it didn't work out. I'm hoping the Lace Sensors work out. 😁

Sounds odd to me. Made the pg lobsided? Why? If its because of the triangular base you can shave that back with a craft knife, it does'nt really serve much purpose only keeping the wires tidy.

You get this problem fitting a Strat pup in a CIJ Jag.

Oh, you can buy JB Jrs without the triangular base.

I've had a silver Lace and a blue Lace in my '65 reissue Mustang and they really do fit fine. The one compromise I made was to remove the copper shielding plate from the pickup cavities--they're held in with a couple screws and there is a ground lead to the control cavity that needs to be desoldered. My concern was that the metal contacts on the bottom of the Lace pickups would contact the shielding plate and cause a short or grounding problem. With the Lace pickups you don't need the shielding anyway as they are noiseless. I eventually switched back to the stock pickups as I felt that they sounded much more "alive." The Laces sounded a little too sterile to me, and despite the higher output and lack of noise, I wanted to go back to the originals.

I'm hoping to get a Gold in the neck and Red in the bridge. I like the stock pick ups but I really would like noiseless with some more bite for the bridge.
