I bought a DD-3 off a mate, and needed another power supply, so went and bought one (it's one of those Eagle ones with a switch to change the voltage and a bunch of different ends so you can change the polarity and plug it into pretty much anything), all it did with the DD-3 was light the LED, I didn't get any repeats. Tried the power supply my Big Muff was already plugged into instead (which is the same make but a more up-to-date model) and that worked. Should have raised a red flag there to be honest, but instead I tried screwing around with the new power supply until it made my Big Muff work, then kind of left it. Next thing I knew my Big Muff was losing volume as I was playing, then completely stopped working. Opened it up and the 220k resistor that the 9 volt current immediately hits as it enters the pedal had melted.
I had the adaptor on the correct voltage setting, correct end with correct polarity, so the only conclusion I can come to is that it isn't very well regulated, if at all, and there was a massive power surge that fried my pedal.
Like I say, I'm perfectly capable of fixing it, it's only one resistor, but it's a pain 'cause I spent
