I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Make it a brown stain with grain showing through. If you don't then it is a waste of walnut and I will get you banned from Jag-Stang forever 😈 .
Just kidding. I would, however, suggest a lighter colour than charcoal. Walnut has such an attractive grain, and I don't feel that the charcoal would do it justice.
Maybe a transparent red or sunburst? Or maybe redburst? 😉
