hey guys, i've got a fender jaguar HH Special at the moment and i've been looking around at some other guitars to add to the collection.

recently i discovered the Tornado GT, thinking of buying it.

your thoughts?

Fran had a Toronado and seemed to think it was the best thing since sliced bread, but iirc they were made in a few different versions. They are all supposed to be good though I think, just some better than others.

I went on a hunt for these for awhile and ended up getting a gold one for a short while. The GT seemed to be the best imo. They had a SD '59 neck pup and a SD Pearly Gates bridge and sound amazing!!! The biggest draw back for me (and what took me a couple months to buy one) was their Korean construction seemed inconsistent. All the ones I play, except the gold one I ended up buying, played like CRAP w/ lots of buzz and uneven non-straight necks. Also the wiring of some of them was pretty noise. All this could either mean low quality control or that they just don't hold up over the years. I sold mine (during a season where I didn't have a job/gig/band) but have been thinking of getting another one soon.

(Oh and BTW it's not Tornado it's TorOnado I made the same mistake when first discovering these little beauties)

Toronado's are great guitars. They're kind of like Lee Ranaldo Jazzmasters with a different bridge 😁 .

I had the same one you are looking at buying, great guitar. Sonically like a SG but way cooler looking.

Personally i like Korean construction but its not for everyone, most Fender people prefer the MIM version because its closer to traditions.

Btw, it will blow your HH Jag out of the water on sound. I sold my HH as soon as i got the Toronado.

I had a MIK Squier Precision. Incredible bass. Sold it because I was GASing for something else... ☹

In retrospect, I should have kept it and modded it up (I would have probably swapped out the pickups, added a clandestine series/parallel switch, and change the pickguard to red pearloid with only a volume knob). Still, had I not sold it, I wouldn't have my awesome Fernandes Atlas 4X!
