Jazzmaster project, suggestions?

Hello everyone, I lucked out this weekend and now have a jazzmaster project. I sold my bronco bass to a generous man who gave me $100 and a telemaster body. The body is pine and unfinished, and I know ill be routing it quite a bit. Here's a link to what they look like.

I bought a strat neck on ebay with block inlays and binding, large CBS headstock. I always like jazzmasters with binding. Very classy looking.

Heres my dilemna. I want to sunburst the thing. I found a site that has supplies for it, reranch. The only thing is, Im pretty sure there is going to be a void near the volume and tone pots because the guitar was already routed for a tele control plate.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I can fill the void with and still sunburst it so it doesn't look terrible?

I don't really understand what you mean about your dilemma. A void? Why is there a void because it's routed? Anyway, I drew up a Telemaster a couple years ago, but mine had the Jazzy tremolo instead. That's pretty awesome though! Post pics when you're done I'd love to see it!!

by void i mean that it has been routed already. even with a jazzmaster pickguard you'll still be able to see about one square inch of the route. I want to fill that part in with something, ( was thinking a piece of pine cut too shape) and do it in a way that with a sunburst finish it wont look awful.

im open too pretty much all suggestions. Ill probably get started on it within a few weeks.
