Double Muff is ####. Not the ####. Just, ####.
What it is is two Muff Fuzz circuits in one box, with a switch for choosing whether to have one circuit, or to stack the two. With the single muff, it sounds ####e. Adds far too much high mids, making an already spiky sounding jaguar (in my case) even spikier. It's alright if I'm in a noisey mood, but it isn't the smooth overdrive sound I'm after. 😆
Actually, I reallly really liked mine when the battery was dying and not just because I knew I could take it out of my chain soon. It started sounding like a really nasty fat overdrive. Twas good. But still, its a crap pedal for me.(sorry to other owners, this is obviously my opinion...)
Big Muffs sound crap with the sustain rolled back (apart from Op Amp muffs, but they're completely different and are much fuzzier) so its basically a crank it up pedal. They lack the raunchyness that we love from them, and they don't sound as fat.
The BMP with Tone Wicker is the most versatile EHX muff currently in production.
I'm tempted to tell you the muff doesn't work for this this and this style of music, but if your ear isn't that well trained, it might not bother you so much. The big muff sound is fat, aggressive, and powerful. But it can do Gilmour style leads.

Try here if you want "boutique" (which basically means: handbuilt, better quality parts, better service, better built - ehx often crap out on people it seems) clones of the older Big Muffs, which to my picky ears sound better than the current production muffs. However, if you're just starting out and don't think you'll be bothered by a little bit more highs in your tone or w/e, then the BMP w/ TW is a safe bet. It is a distortion pedal, which does fuzzy sounds. It's not a fuzz pedal. If you want fuzz, look elsewhere.
