I posted a thread about which amp (or which pedal) to get and i was looking at amps and i know this is solid state but i like the MG series of marshall, i found this halfstack

and its 50 bucks more for the red one...

Ihavent played throught this exact amp, but i have played through the series this amp comes from.. what do you guys think

Kid, listen, these amps are terrible. And you're what, 10? When do you next plan on doing a stadium gig? You don't need a huge amp. Invest in something smaller and better quality.

'Cause it's pretty much universally renowned that these are terrible amps generally bought by kids who don't know the first thing and people who proudly buy into the MG series don't deserve much respect.

I want to make perfectly clear right now that we (or, at least, I, I'm not sure about Alex...) are not trying to be mean, and we're not singling you out, you just seem to have a habit of making extremely ill-advised posts and asking daft questions.

For instance, you already posted a thread asking our advice on amps, and now you're saying "what do you guys think of this heap of junk?", seemingly ignoring the advice everyone gave in your previous thread. Don't be surprised if people get a bit short with you when you do that.

cj123 like richie said...you keep posting things we already helped you out in.go back to your old thread about amps re read that click on the link i posted on that thread and you will find more help. if you really want something good don not get a MG save your money up for something nice, like a good good quality 5 or 15 watt tube amp. i promise you it will be much better. you dont need a freaking halfstack.

i got a mg30 actually. i received it when i was freshman in high school as a christmas present. my parents bought it for me and didnt ask for it. it was a nice suprise at the time and good enough when i was barely starting out. i also think they got it for me cuz it was pretty cheap because of christmas discounts.

are these marshalls any better than fender frontmans?

I've gone through 2 frontmans.

one, I could play for 45 mins, then it just shut it self off.

the other, would increase and decrease in volume whenever it felt like it.

both had ####ty OD, but the cleans were pretty good.

I love crappy amps. A few fiends and I get together and mod them and have a blast.

But I barely pay anything for them.

I am also a firm believer in play what you like and not care what anyone thinks.

But do your homework and figure out if you indeed like it.

NO ONE can tell you what YOU like.

I looooove half/full stacks and own/play them alot. They are big loud and crazy, but I am 34 and luckily have a half-decent job.

Think small at first and find out what YOUR sound is.

Thing is, you won't get any desirable tones from that pile of junk. And why, at the age of 10, would you need a halfstack?? Even as the owner of a large tube head, I only use a 2x12. The only time I'd ever consider a 4x12 is if I had a really expensive head like an SLO100 or Uberschall or maybe if the matching cab for my amp popped up cheap.

we all have to make bad purchases and learn from them. I've had my share of crappy amps, guitars and pedals.

when the time comes you can turn over your crap gear to some other 10 year old who thinks

Maybe so, but its a complete POS.

What I really don't get is why, on the new one, they altered the size and layout to look even less like a marshall. Its smaller, the controls are on the top not the bottom and there is no white binding.

well here's a revenge plan:

buy the Behringer Feedbacker copy.

at 3am crank up your amp, pluck a string, then set a thick dictionary on top of the pedal so it keeps making noise. lock your bedroom door and crawl out the window.

come back in a couple hours and freak out WHAT THE FUCCCCK WERE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM YOU WENCH!! WHY IS MY AMP BROKEN?!?!!? YER BUYING ME A NEW AMP !!! NEEEEOW!!!
