String savers

Allparts have completely forgotten about my order on the stang saddles.

I'm not buying the entire bridge. Bugger that.

What about these string saver things then. I've see them around.

I can order them from strings direct, no idea on price.

I don't care for increasing the life for my strings. They last forever anyway.

But they do have adjustable height screws which is a plus, and they don't have that silly design that makes no sense.

But they're black. Alittle out of contrast.

However I'm sure a piece of wool would be a better alternative to my current saddles. 🙄

I tried filing them, and I pretty much screwed up the E string saddle. So I'm not doing that.

Anyone tried these?

i have the TUSQ ones. they are exactly the same as the "string savers", except they aren't covered in teflon. they are good. but they have gaps inbetween (because they've been designed after japanese mustang saddles). i don't think this will bother you though. you'll like the size of the groove a lot better. i can still imagine people having trouble with the adjustable saddes side of things though. send the saddles and the assey to me, and i'll set it up for you if you like

I'll take a good hammer at it first. I've managed to set the jag ones up pretty well. Or at least so they don't pop out the strings and I can play them. 😆 Thanks for the offer. I can probably manage.

Are the height screws in these better designed? (I.e aren't threaded too loose for the saddles so they cause buzz? Which I find is a problem with my saddles right now.)

i think you'll find it's the assey hieght screws, not the saddle screws buzzing. but yes, the saddles are poly and the grub screws more or less tap into them without any play in the threads

I'm pretty certain that a quite a percentage of the buzzing is coming from the saddles.

The occasion that I covered the screws in nail varnish stopped the buzzing almost completely.

i actually just replace my MIA jazzmaster bridge with a tune o matic bridge, and if you play heavy you won't have a problem. I know the pole pieces don't line up but they do on mine. the 12" radius on the bridge also help me palm mute oddly enough some people would dissagree. I use to be one. My 70's stang bridge make the jazz sound wierd takes away the brightness.

i've had a tom on my jag a while back. no mods, just retrofit bushings. and, for all that's said about the radius difference, it honestly never bothered me |:

Ah. Well my dad just ordered the strings savers.

Hopefully the black will work with my jaggy.

Just stuck them in my bridge. As well as a string change. (10-52s)

They feel really smooth, no buzzing, although it does sound a bit tinny, but that's probably just the strings. Need to break em in. 😆

ditto for my jag, the string spacing and radius "issues" some people claim to have are minute.

i didn't even use retrofit bushings, i used an epiphone tom which has large posts, even though they're threads if you put them in the jag bridge bushings they have no room to move and you don't have to use tape like a hobo.
