Ok so Danelectro have decided to re-reissue the 59DC to its original specs and to also do a Jimmy Page model. To say this has left me slightly irked somewhat is a tad understated.
The model i own is a RI model which, only known to Mr Danelectro himself, has several changes and re-designs to the originals and are as follows;
1, The Bridge. The bridge on the originals had the rosewood 'strip' with no saddles. The RI has a 6 saddle bridge which gives the guitar a more 'metalic sound' i feel.
2, The individual 'white knob, black skirt' volume and tone controls have been replaced with the more standard tone, volume knobs with a white dot on them.
3, The input jack is now located around the side of the guitar oppossed to the more traditional front of the original.
4, The Binding. The binding is crap and cheap looking. ðŸ˜
5, The headstock. Gone is the 'Coke bottle' shape and in its place a headstock that appears to have a bite out of it!
6, The tuners. Instead of the 3 in a row type we have individual ones.
The pick ups are ok though.
Now don't get me wrong the guitar is fantastic but would have been even more fantastic if it had remained true to the original DC59.
Now the reason for my previously mentioned irkness is that now i am seriosly gassing for the 'Jimmy Page' look for my 59.
Now all these problems have solutions with maybe the possible exception of the headstock.
The bridge, the binding, the knobs the tuners, even the jack input can be relocated but doing all this would out price what i paid for the guitar in the 1st place.
Miffed? You bet I am.
