Bootlegging Microphone

I want to create some bootlegs of a few concert I'm gonna see this coming summer. I have my HiMD recorder but I was wondering what type of microphone would be good to make a bootleg of a concert with. As I'll be in the crowd, can anyone recommend one or a style of one.

So you know, concerts I'm gonna see are:

Wolfmother

Oasis

Foo Fighters

Kaiser Chiefs

Iggy Pop and the Stooges

White Stripes

Franz Ferdinand

John Fogerty (well not anymore, ran out of money and tickets will sell out this week 😛 )

plus possibly more

Lol that could work Doog, I actually might be able to get backstage passes to the Big Day Out (the acts after Kasier Chiefs) since my girlfriends close cousin is playing, but that might only be for the local stage 😛

Jonnie: I cant find those here in Perth, so I'm guessing if a buy a decent brandname at a decent price, I should get quality. I was thinking about just buying the Sony HiMD microphone, apparently they are good for recording music demos, so I'll give that a shot maybe.

you basically want a mic that is like the standard mini-disc style. you can get vastly varying quality (check out DPA for a look out a high end option, or you might get something in the australian equivilant of a

Go for it bob. I was thinking of getting the default Sony music mic for MD, so I could also use it for home demos, but you can recommened any big brands I should be able to get them.

DPA are as high end as you'd ever need to go in compact microphones, but perhaps a little excessive

id go with a fairly standard mic, i cant really suggest a particular model, but if you show me some specs of some you're considering i can explain what some of the items mean (like you probably wont have heard of THD+N before, and it can all get a bit confusing)

Well one requirement is that it has to be mini jack, i dont want to mess around with converters. Hmm, havent seen DPAs around, i see wat a few places have though.
