jellybelly So Ive decided on a summer project: build a jaguar. Its gonna be pretty and possibly not have the daft switching (somthing very similar to a jazzmaster I think) probs with a Seymour duncan JB in the bridge and a hot for jag in the neck and I really want it in natural wood. Now for the question...where do I start? Im going to try to put a budget of around
Rick parts can be quite expensive, and could even eat up that 350. so i think if you wanted to save money, you could get your wood from a local tree, and make your own body out of that. are you planning to make the neck yourself too, though?
jellybelly Well with necks, i noticed that on Ebay.com there are 4 vintage jag necks all going for under
jellybelly Im also going to skip the upper control plate, just have it though the ;ead circuit...and with just a 3 way toggle too. Also might skip on the tone pot or even have an individual volume pot for each pickup. Hopefully this will cut costs back a bit too.

paul_ i don't think you're gonna be able to build a jag with tree fiddy, unless you already have a bunch of stuff you can use, or are planning to fashion the body yourself.
jellybelly Ive worked it out pretty well...and I could just scrape doing it...but without pickups. Will have a think...
CROSS get your neck wood from http://www.stew-mac.com (assuming you're building the neck from scratch). If you type in 'alder' in Ebay, there's a company that sells wood really cheap, they have other wood than alder as well, but I'm not sure exactly what.
