i dropped an epi abr-1 in my jag 8 years ago and it's still there. i also played, performed and recorded with said guitar during that time to much enjoyment.
the abr-1 is what gibsons had up until some point in the 70's, and what epiphones have now, the saddle screws are held down by a retainer wire:
gibsons now use the 'wider' version which is essentially the same bridge but with the saddle screws going through holes in the side of the bridge instead of being held down with a piece of wire, they're so much more comfortable with it that they even put it on the '61 SG re-issue and various other re-issues of theirs which should have an abr-1.
