Fender jazzmaster 50th anniversary?

I've been playing on a jag for about a year and lately i've been wanting a jazzmaster (partially because i'm a big Sonic Youth and Dinosaur jr 'fan').

So there is some guy claiming he has an 50th anniversary jazzmaster(japanese) and he is asking 600 euro's for it. Is there such a jazzmaster? I mean the guitar is from 1958 right?

The thing is he only lives a couple of miles away from me so i could just go there in 15 minutes and buy it instead of risking beeing ripped by some ebay fraud or something...

Do you think this is worth it?

do you mean that the 50th an. is from 1958? cause no what that means is its from Fender 50th Year of running operations and more then likely there is a 50TH An. Version ive seen 50TH an. Jags and strats so why not a Jazzy....oh and id go meet him and buy it instead of the ebay thing....or you could go meet him hit him with a bat and take it 😈

yeah i'm not sure, but if i'm thinking of the right guitar it's got gold hardware and a pretty gross yellow finish. it's from Fender's 50th anniversary, not the Jazzmasters'.

I'm pretty sure that the guy who say's it's a 50th Anniversary Jazzmaster proabably says so because the guitar has one of those 50th anniversary stickers on the headstock like the one my Jag-Stang has. Fender put that on a lot of, if not all of their guitars in 1996, and may have started in late 1995 as my Jag-Stang's Serial seems to say it's a late 1995/early1996 instrument.

Yes the guitar is in fact from 1996!

I guess that doesn't add any real value to it or has some limited feature...

Do you guys think its worth the 600 euros?

You could try and nock him down a bit...............then run off with his jazzy! Only joking. You could offer him a bit less in cash, say 550? I'm sure he'd take the deal. I payed
