Hello all,
Finally got around to replacing the stock pickups on my CIJ for a matched pair of SJAG-3s. My jag made a bit of a humming noise before but rolling the tone down a third removed it. I have fitted the pups myself and all the wiring seems to be fine (despite different colors for the wires compared to the old pups I presume that both the black wires still go to the back of the volume control).
Now when I play with just the neck (horn controle switch up) it is fine, about the same amount of buzz as I had before but a much better sound, but when I play with both pups active I get a lot a buzzing which I found odd as I thought they were supposed to be noise cancelling! If I touch the strings and bridge a little I can get it so it's quiet without me touching it but then as soon as I play something and take my hands away the noise starts again. Not sure if this is a grounding issue or crappy CIJ electronics or even possibly a bad solder joint somewhere.
I did not look at any other cabling which I had my guitar open but I did solder one of the exposed connectors on the back of the pups onto the claw in an attempt to ground it. Does it matter which end I do that to?
Thanks for your time guys, any help would be much appreciated!
