Hey people it's been a while.

Any way I was looking up some stuff on ebay and stumble across this.

I wonder if this could be where the Ibanez Jet King series originated from.

It looks like omars guitar if you ask me haha.

It might have been influenced by older Japanese models, but I believe the primary inspiration was the Ibanez Rhythm maker. I can't find pics at the moment, but their supposedly very similar.

you're right, the Jetking was inspired by the Rhythm Maker series, I've seen a few photos of Hendrix with one

I sold my JTK-1, those are cheaply made in Indonesia with crappy pickups, heaby bodies, really wide necks.

I played a JTK-3 and it's pretty different.

there's a hollybody version I wouldn't mind trying but I can't find it anywhere

Sounds pretty Interesting. I always knew they were inspired from old ####ty surf guitars but, never found ones that look as similiar as this one. I really like the first series of jet kings with the coils taps.

I like the older Jet Kings . Kinda funky and they do play well. The new ones to me kinda feel cheap and at the price a Jagmaster's a better bet . But the JTK does have a particular cool factor .

I hate the new jet kings. They even look cheap and yes there is a small cool factor involved like you said and for the price I'd prefer any squier.

I have the 2nd generation version of the jetking (the 2nd batch were painted different colors, though they retained the coil-tap switches). Like the other posters said, you have to like or be willing to deal with a thick neck, but given that I have long fingers, that's no problem. The pickups are good, not great, but it definitely has a very unique garage rock style to it. Overall, very awesome guitar...

I ended up hating the thing and traded it for a bunch of pedals

if you like heavy bodies, wider thin necks, go for it, but just change the pickups cuz they SUCK

I really hate ibanez pickups, and the neck is a little strange. but i really dig the looks of the JTK.

that first one really does look like the ORM1.
