OK well I've got a totally stock early 80's USA Fender H 1 Bullet. It has 1 Fender humbucker in the bridge(which might just be 2 single coils side by side?) and a little button that you push to split the pickup. Right now, It has some issues with feedback when used on the high gain channels of my Tremoverb & Vox AC50CP2. I like the sound of the stock pickup, but not the bad high pitch feedback that I'm getting when I turn up the gain levels on my amps. I'm not sure whether I should take it to the shop and see if the pickup just needs to be dipped in wax, or if I should swap out the old pickup for something more modern like a Duncan JB, or Rio Grande BBQ bucker. I'm looking for a humbucker that's good for alt rock, punk, and blues. The humbucker will need to sound convincing when split into single coil mode too. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Either way, I'll no doubt save the original pickup as the guitar is almost 30 years old & pretty cool. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
