Fairly Cheap Mustang copy?

Hey people, Have been Observing this site from a distance for a while.

But this is my question...is it easier to:

A. Buy a genuine Mustang

B. Buy a Duo sonic (and possibly mod it)

Or C. Can anyone point out some good copies with links??

Which would be easier/cheaper???

I'd say it's probably cheaper to get a fender mustang copy from warmoth. But if it were me I'd just save my money up to buy a genuine fender mustang. (i'm assuming you mean reissue's and not original run mustangs).*

*the japanese reissues of the '65 are phenomenal, by the way.

Good Mustang copies are hard to find exept for custom made Warmoth's. 😉

Your best bet is to buy a reissue eighter secondhand or new. Because vintage ones are hella expensive most of the time. I found my 65' reissue for 450,- secondhand.

And all i can say is, i'm very 😁 with it. It's my favorite guitar.

Having a real secondhand Fender Mustang is always better. It keeps his value secondhand.

Even if you do mod it, it will still be worth more than a custom made Warmoth stang. And it will probably cost less depending on the amount of mods you want to make to it. (like changing only the bridge pickup to a humbucker)

were 70's mustangs made w/contoured bodies (i think that's the term used to describe the curvature near the back of the body)? Because my '65 ri seems to me more like a slab like body w/no contours on the back at all.

I just remembered that there is a Japanese company ( guitars are Korean made)that makes a Mustang clone . Actually it's more like a Mustang -Duo Sonic hybrid type deal ( guess it's the copyrighted tremolo thing) . Here's the thread I saw it on. Surely you can fid one on ebay or online somewhere.

Wiseman, the '65 Mustang was a slab...no contour. So the '65 reissue is faithful to that body. My understanding is that after about '69 Fender started making the contoured bodies. So the '70s reissue is faithful to that contoured style.

Does that sound right, gang?

Foxy, I can relate. I just bought a nice Samick with great action, Floyd Rose, Tobacco-burst body with ivory binding. Off Ebay.

It arrives. Plays great. But without trying it on for size...well it doesn't fit. The upper bout cuts into my right peck. If only it were a contoured body! ☹

So I pick up my Mustang...an old '65 slab body...which I hadn't played in a week. It feels like my favorite old jeans. Light. And the curve of that narrow slab fits me perfectly.

Maybe a 70s contoured Mustang body would be even more comfortable, but I doubt it could be much better....and now that I think of it, all the reissues have a thicker body than the earliest '60s Mustangs, don't they? So the contour may be necessary. But the thicker '65 reissue doesn't get a contour... 😕
