What is George playing...?

Ok, most of us will have seen this performance a gazillion times.

I was looking through my little Complete Guide to the Music of The Beatles handbook and I noticed George Harrison playing a very odd-looking guitar that seemed to be a perfect strat-jag hybrid.

The pic is tiny, but the guitar seems to be jag shape, vibrato, neck, with strat pickguard and pickup setup, with the control configuration being a combination of strat and jag controls.

Does anyone know anything about this guitar?

It's indeed a Bass IV. There was one on marktplaats (sort of dutch ebay) which the seller wrote that it could have been owned by John Lennon. During the time period he obtained it in.

Very rare Fender Bass VI sunburst from 1966 with beautiful neck with white binding and blocks. Original frets (never re-freted and not damaged). Pots 1966 and original pickups. Neckdate states: August 1966. With original Blackface Fender case. Original mute and tremolo-arm also included. Setup perfectly by a specialist. It has been played by Andy Sylvester. Andy have among other things played in Chicken Shack, Christine McVie (Fleetwood Mac) and Savoy Brown. Andy bought this Fender Bass VI in London. John Lennon bought a Fender Bass VI in the same period in London. Could this bass maybe be owned by John Lennon? No price discounts or trading gear.
