Flying with a Jag-stang

I'm getting on an airplane, flying internacionally. Has anybody taken a jag-stang in a hardshell case as a carry-on? What gig-bag do jag-stangs fit in? thanks!

If you still going to use a flightcase, put it atleast this way in:

Luggage gets srsly rough treatment. It will fit in larger rectangular cases that are intended for Bass guitars but will rattle around, its worth getting some foam to pack it out. It will also fit in a Jag or Jazzy case but they dont come cheap.

This makes me wonder. How do big touring bands like Megadeth fly their gear? Obviously in hard cases, but they must get special treatment right?

When I'm big and famous, I'd hate to think they were throwing my collection of bogner fishes around the place.

I want to know if people get hassled attempting to take guitars in hardshell cases as carry-ons. I have brought guitars in gig bags as carry-ons many times without problems, but I prefer to keep my jag-stang its hardshell case.

my advice would be to call your airline and ask I know British-Airways allows you one guitar sized instrument in addition to a carry on bag. But hardshell or soft I'm not all that sure its best to call up the airline ask about there policy on carry on and instruments

I did once fly with my Kramer Focus 3000 packed away in my carry-on bag with the neck removed, I dunno if they would be okay with that though. I'm almost willing to do that with the Jag-Stang the next time I fly, just so I have a familiar guitar around I like.

They'll put everything in cases inside bigger cases with wheels, proper freight job. Still, some bands hire a lot of gear. Saxon started using the Vintage brand on overseas tours because they are inexpensive reasonable quality guitars. The thought of luggage handlers throwing a 1969 Gibson SG around would strike fear into any guitar player.
