Looking for a Jag/Jazzmaster project - Australia

Hi all, my first post.....

I've been your regular tele/strat/LP kinda guy the past decades, but I've got a serious jones to get a Jaguar project under way. (Jazzmaster second selection, if no Jag stuff available). I realise I'm probably in the worst place in the world to ask this, but can anyone point me to a beat instrument I can 'restore'?

I'm in Brisbane, Australia......all the jags I've seen are definitely not 'beat' (ie not the point of the exercise), and it's a relatively small market here.

I have worked on teles and strats before, and I want to get to work asap. A white/tortoise (Mary Kaye) is the finish I'll be after, althoiugh if the body has a fab grain I may go 'burst.

The probable genesis of this quest is a passion for Johnny Marr's music, and the rest is just a linear exercise.

Anyone point me in the direction of where I'll get all the component parts?

buy all your wires tone pots etc. at Jay car, but buy pickups/pick guards off ebay.

The deal only in secondhand instruments, and to quote the guy that runs the place "we love the shortscale Fenders here".

Of the ones Foxy listed, MusicSwopShop is my fave. Wonderful little shoppe.

But Foxy and I are both in Victoria, so not too much help when it comes to pointing out anything that may be closer to Brisbane.

Personally, my best suggestion would be ebay. Actually, that would be my second-best suggestion. My best suggestion would be to try to shed the desire to 'get to work asap' and instead wait for the right guitar to come along.

But that's just me 😀
