Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems to me like a VERY odd question.
If the rout is big enough to fit a humbucker, why would it not be big enough to fit a single?
But - to try to give a constructive answer - I see no reason why the routs would not fit a single. However, obviously the pickguard will not handle them without looking goofy.
