will_s I usually don't like the neck pick up sound and hardly ever use it, so I thought if I replace it with a bridge pick up I can get more sounds I like from the guitar...would it sound good if you put a single coil bridge pick up in the neck position or is this a bad idea... I don't want to do something stupid
mumblyjoe Bridge pickups are usually hotter to conteract the trebly sound of the strings vibrating near the bridge. It would work in a neck position but it might have too much bass and mids.
jellybelly Replace it with a p 90 or p 100, I hate buckers in the neck too, they sound way too muddy for my liking. A single coil is the way to go in my opinion. I dont think, like mumblyjoe said, a bidge pickup would sound great in the neck.

Spitfire I don't think you'll notice any major change in sound, it just may be a bit hotter. The sound of the neck pickup is mostly down to the position along the string's length. I prefer single coils at the neck so a phat cat or something might be more to your liking.
