I need some technical assistance. Some of you know I've been playin electric guitar since last year and am still learning technical stuff, so I hope I can use the right langauge 😕 to explain the problem.
To get a thick tone (like what Clapton used with Cream, sometimes called "woman tone"), I use the neck pup only; turn the tone pot all the way down; and set my amp with moderate to strong gain. There's a problem with two of my guitars, the high E string has about 1/4 the volume of the other strings. But with the tone pot turned up about half way, the volume of the high E strings becomes equal with the other strings
Both these guitars are late 80s Samicks. One, a Jazzmaster knockoff, has P90s and the other has a traditional single coil at the neck (humbucker bridge pup).
Do I need a better tone pot?
