I remember looking for these in 1994 when the Jag-Stang was just coming out (they did not exist back then, I looked in vain) - I never liked the open coil look on those guitars, but the only pickup that I knew of in humbucker format with a plain black cover were the EMG Humbuckers, which I liked. But Mcconnachiea is right, there's something magical about those EMG pickups in a Jag-Stang that just does not sound like anything else. The sweet part was someone already installed the EMG's for me in a former life of the guitar.
The way I'd keep those on is to wax pot the pickup with the covers on using my Revlon Wax Bath, it truly does work great. Plain Cover + Wax Pot = Feedback Assisted Sustain for eons. I'm seriously considering this on all my guitars that have pickups that squeal and can have a Mustang or plain-top humbucker cover installed.
