Definitive pickup height topic

Well, since I was an idiot and didn't measure the old pickup height before I popped in Novaks on my Jazzmaster and Jaguar, I have been having trouble locating any "official" information regarding pickup height.

So, if someone could do me a favor and let me know what factory specs are for both Jazzmaster and jaguar, that would be great.

also, when you're measuring height, are you doing it with the strings free or pressed down at the 17th fret?

press the strings down at the last fret. then measure 2-3mm from the top of the polepiece to the bottom of the string. you might like to do 2mm on the treble side, and 3mm at the bass side. but it's personal preference to some degree. just make sure you get 2mm clearance distance, or the magnetics of the poles can interfere with the ocillation of the string
